Adopt Jumbó

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Months, according to those who live there, a cat has been living in front of a house for years, where it was fed on the street. The reporter has been watching it for several months during dog walks and put the stray cat on the waiting list. It is unknown why it did not stay there for so long, but in recent weeks, someone has been constantly driving it away, so it settled a few blocks away. The reporter gained its trust, so yesterday evening it was possible to approach it and from today it has become a resident of our shelter. For now, it is very scared.

A bejelentő bizalmát elnyerte, ezèrt tegnap este sikerült becserkèsznie ès mától menhelyünk lakója lett. Egyenlőre nagyon fél.

About Jumbó

What life with Jumbó looks like

Jumbó is a medium-sized adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged in Hungary.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jumbó, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jumbó?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jumbó on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jumbó if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jumbó already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jumbó isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jumbó and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
