Greek Land Turtle Color: see photo Age: 1-2 months (hatched between July & August) Gender: unknown Neutered: no Reason for relinquishment: Due to the warm summer, 11 turtle babies unexpectedly hatched in our outdoor enclosure, more than doubling our population. However, our enclosure cannot accommodate the total of 20 turtles, so we are forced to give away the babies (or older animals, depending on preference) with a heavy heart. The turtles are easy to care for, but a protective enclosure that shields the young ones from intruders like foxes or martens in the first months/years is absolutely necessary. The babies among themselves and our older species and family members are very peaceful and do not engage in power struggles, so they can be kept together. Unser Gehege bietet allerdings nicht Platz für die insgesamt nun 20 Schildkröten und daher sehen wir uns gezwungen, die Babys (oder je nach Wunsch auch ältere Tiere) schweren Herzens abzugeben. Die Schildkröten sind pflegeleicht, ein schützendes Gehege, das die Kleinen in den ersten Monaten/Jahren gegen Eindringlinge wie Füchse oder Marder schützt, ist allerdings zwingend. Die Babys unter sich wie auch unsere älteren Art- und Familiengenossen sind zur Zeit sehr friedlich und führen noch keine Machtkämpfe untereinander.
