K9

Mixed Breed · Unknown

A huge heart, with strong will: K9 - Here I am! Full of heart, but he knows what he wants! Speciality: The biggest member of the team. Personality: Determined, confident and incredibly affectionate. K9 is not only the largest physically among us, but his personality is impressive. He exactly knows what he wants, and this is accompanied by serious confidence. Nature: K9 is a dog who knows how to secure a place for himself. He is the most dominant in the group, and he loves to measure his strength against K7 - these two are real little duelists. But behind the decisive exterior is a dog who does everything for attention and love! When it comes to petting, K9 doesn't joke: he can push everyone else out of the way just to get the full dose of care. He would like to appropriate people for himself. Social being and temperament: His temperament is strong. He needs a master who shows him firm but loving guidance. Since he tends to barge forward, he still has to learn that love does not have to be "fought for," and sharing attention is okay. Very smart, and quickly recognizes who he should listen to. Ideal owner: We are looking for owners with experience with larger, characterful dogs to accompany K9. He needs a home where he is physically exhausted, but also receives clear rules. Since he likes to push everyone away from himself, it would be ideal for him to be an "only king" or next to another equally confident dog. Whoever chooses K9 gets a loyal giant who would go through fire for his owners.

Egy óriási szív, erős akarattal: K9 – Itt vagyok én! Csupa szív, de tudja, mit akar! Különlegessége: A csapat legnagyobb tagja Jelleme: Akaratos, magabiztos és végtelenül szeretetéhes K9 nemcsak testileg a legnagyobb nálunk, hanem a személyisége is lenyűgöző. Aki K9-et választja, egy hűséges óriást kap, aki tűzbe menne a gazdáiért.

About K9

What life with K9 looks like

K9 is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting K9, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about K9?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw K9 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt K9 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is K9 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if K9 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know K9 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
