Kaia

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

10-09-26 Kaia is a very friendly girl who has come into our care from Romania in search of a fresh start. She is a confident and happy dog who is always ready to roll over for a belly rub and adores affection and attention! Although she is a big girl, she is surprisingly gentle and takes treats very nicely. She has a lovely personality, and gets very wiggly and excited when she meets people. Kaia would would prefer to be homed as the only dog where she can get all of the fuss and attention for herself. She does mix well with dogs of a similar size to her but wouldn't enjoy sharing her home with them and isn't too keen on smaller dogs. She will also need a home without cats. She can live with older-dog savvy teens who are sensible and understanding of her size. Kaia doesn’t quite realise her own size and can be a little enthusiastic when she wants your attention, sometimes using her paws to get your focus. This could be a bit much for a younger child, although she means no harm and is simply looking for some attention (or perhaps a treat)! We are told that she lived in a foster home in Romania, but she may still need to learn all about house training and the other basics of home life. She can already walk on a lead and does this well. However, she can be a bit strong and will need her adopters to work with her on this so that she can comfortably go on walks. Once she is settled, she would love to go on plenty of walks and explorations. She will need an extra-secure garden with fences of at least 6ft that will keep a lady of her size and energy safe. Kaia is such a happy, affectionate girl who seems to love everyone she meets. She has a big personality, a very sweet nature and plenty of love to give, and we think she will be a wonderful companion for a family looking for a fun and loving dog. Kaia has been tested for Leishmania, Giardia, heartworm disease, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, and Brucellosis, all of which are negative.

About Kaia

What life with Kaia looks like

Kaia is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
