Kallax (Einzelkater)

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 4 years

"Kallax" came to our animal shelter as a very shy tomcat. He had no contact with people before, as he had lived exclusively outdoors. Here, he learned how wonderful it is to be petted – and he now enjoys it to the fullest. He actively seeks the proximity of people he has come to trust: he climbs onto their laps and nuzzles affectionately. Since he wants to have his trusted people all to himself and does not want to share attention or cuddles with other cats, we are looking for a home for him as a single cat. As he was originally an outdoor cat, he will only be rehomed to a quiet residential area where he can go back outside after an appropriate period of adjustment. For "Kallax," we wish to find cat-experienced people who can provide him with security and support during his move to a new home. Children should not live in his new home.

About Kallax (Einzelkater)

What life with Kallax (Einzelkater) looks like

Kallax (Einzelkater) is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kallax (Einzelkater), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kallax (Einzelkater)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kallax (Einzelkater) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kallax (Einzelkater) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kallax (Einzelkater) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kallax (Einzelkater) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kallax (Einzelkater) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
