Kalle • Franz. Bulldog male dog, born 2013 kg, cm shoulder height Kalle – A fighter with a heart on his permanent foster placement! Hey you! Sometimes it’s the special dogs who touch us the most – and Kalle is definitely one of them. This charming French Bulldog male has a turbulent past, but he doesn’t give up! ✨ That’s Kalle: 🐾 Born: 2013 🐾 A real fighter with a zest for life 🐾 Lovable, cuddly, and full of energy 💡 Why Kalle lives on a permanent foster placement: Kalle had a serious disc problem that unfortunately wasn’t treated in time. When he arrived at the animal shelter, he could barely walk – his skin was sore, his hind legs were scraped. But Kalle fought! Thanks to intensive physiotherapy, he’s making progress and enjoying life to the fullest. As he still needs regular medical care, Kalle now lives on a permanent foster placement where he is lovingly cared for. Here, he gets the support he deserves and can enjoy snuggles and lots of attention. 🏃‍♂️ What Kalle loves: ✔️ Walks – with his cart for longer excursions or on his own paws for shorter distances ✔️ People – he’s cuddly and loves being the center of attention ❌ What Kalle doesn’t like: 🚫 Physical strain – he needs rest periods and targeted exercise 🚫 Wrong food – he’s sensitive to food and best tolerates horse meat 🚫 House training – he can’t independently eliminate waste Kalle may have health challenges, but his heart is huge and his zest for life unbroken! If you want to support him, you can sponsor him and contribute to the best care he receives. 📍 animal shelter Ahrenshöft 📞 ✉️ E-Mail: Kalle is supported by a pet sponsorship:

Kalle • Franz.

About Kalle

What life with Kalle looks like

Kalle is a extra-large senior english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Ahrenshöft in Ahrenshöft.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ahrenshöft handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ahrenshöft will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ahrenshöft early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
