Kalle

Mixed Breed · Male

Kalle is knee-high (measured against short people), can still be quite comfortably picked up, and he is a charming snowflake (with elegantly placed caramel accessories). Kalle is a fun terrier mix, he is athletic, elegant, funny, and clever - and no one knows how the great heartbreaker ended up in the shelter. Kalle was rescued by the animal protectors of Arca Sevilla from the Zoosanitario shelter. It is probably one of the hardest tasks for our friends in Spain, to go into the shelters and decide which dogs can be saved and which ones have to be left behind (at least for now) - without knowing if you are signing a death sentence. Nevertheless, our friends always face the heartbreaking walk through the smelly corridors, where frightened eyes look out from dark enclosures through the bars. Unfortunately, the capacities of our animal shelters do not allow all four-legged animals to take the direct way out of hell, but with your help and the tireless hope of our local partners, many lives have already been saved. Kalle was lucky enough to be discovered and can now wait safely at Arca until a family is found for him. The sweet, about one and a half year old male dog (as of 01/2022), whose biggest hobby is giving kisses, currently impresses the volunteers who every day ensure that it is warm for everyone, that everyone has something to eat, and that none of the four-legged animals lose their courage. However, Kalle does not need to be kept entertained. Happily, he jumps around, often like a hare with both paws at the same time, through life, enthusiastically explores toys, and conquers all available cozy sleeping spots, follows all two-legged beings with his head tilted sideways, and has learned that the sad dog gaze combined with a 15-degree twist of the upper neck almost certainly leads to an extra portion of love and in the best case, also to a cookie donation. Despite everything, it's clear that Kalle knows life in the house and longs for people who he knows belong only to him. Our cute grinning face really doesn't need experienced hands, but for the sake of his top figure and due to Kalle's convincing and terrier-like self-confidence, it certainly couldn't hurt if his future two-legged companions occasionally say a well-placed no when Mr. Super Charm opens his (well-filled) trick box to get one more cookie. Caution - the gaze of our gentleman could probably even melt stones... can you (at least sometimes) resist?

DE·Show original

About Kalle

What life with Kalle looks like

Kalle is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
