Kamea

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 6 years

“Kamea” is a gentle and rather reserved cat who still needs some time at the shelter to settle in properly. The unfamiliar surroundings still make her feel uncertain, which is why she often retreats to a quiet spot. However, she’s by no means shy—she thoroughly enjoys being petted by people she trusts and clearly shows that she longs for closeness and affection. “Kamea” gets along exceptionally well with other cats. She loves their company and strongly relies on her feline companions. In particular, the confident male cats in her foster home provide her with daily reassurance and show her that she has nothing to fear. This support visibly does her good. Therefore, we’d like “Kamea” to find a home where there’s already a social and self-assured cat or a sociable male cat whom she can look up to and who can offer her security in new situations. She could also move in together with the male cat “Buffi,” as he too provides her with a great deal of reassurance. Since “Kamea” was an outdoor cat in her previous home, we’d like her to continue having the opportunity to explore her surroundings once she’s had an appropriate adjustment period. We’re therefore looking for a home in a quiet, low-traffic residential area. “Kamea” isn’t suitable for a home with children, as a lively household would cause her too much restlessness. In a calm environment with patient people, she’ll be given the time she needs to build trust and fully reveal her loving nature.

DE·Show original

About Kamea

What life with Kamea looks like

Kamea is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kamea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kamea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kamea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kamea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kamea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kamea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kamea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
