Kami

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 18 years

A small mother in search of trust. When Kami arrived at the shelter, she wasn't alone. With her were her tiny, helpless kittens, who needed everything: care, nourishment, security, and lots of love. Kami, however, needed time above all. She's a shy and reserved cat, still a bit wary, but behind that timidity lies a very sweet cat who is learning, day by day, to trust people. At the shelter, we took care of her and her kittens, ensuring they had food, attention, and all the necessary care. The kittens grew, became strong, and one by one, they found families ready to welcome and love them forever. Now, however, it's time to think about Kami. Her story reminds us of how important sterilization is. Every year, many cats are born without a home, while shelters and associations are faced with a huge number of abandoned or struggling animals. Sterilization means preventing unwanted litters, reducing the phenomenon of stray animals, and making a concrete contribution to avoiding so much suffering. Kami doesn't ask for much. She just asks for someone willing to get to know her without haste, respecting her time and giving her the chance to open up little by little. Maybe at first she'll hide, maybe it will take a while before she comes to your caresses. But every small step you conquer with her will be even more precious. Come and meet Kami. She might just be the companion you've been waiting for. And maybe, with patience and love, you'll discover how special a cat is that just needs to finally feel safe. Venite a conoscere Kami. About Kami

What life with Kami looks like

Kami is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali in Italy.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kami, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kami?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kami on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kami if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kami already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kami isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kami and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
