adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Kana has found a home! His story: The luck has a name: Kana. The cute little puppy bounds around with endless energy, his tiny tail wags like a metronome of joy. With his big, curious eyes and floppy ears, he explores his surroundings curiously and stumbles over his own paws from time to time. And yet, Kana's life didn't start so easy. Together with his four siblings, Hera, Hermes, Vince, and Odin, he was born in a remote spot under a bridge by his mother Nanni. Fortunately, the family was saved, and now they all eagerly wait in their foster home to be seen and travel to their forever home. Kana with the fluffy black-brown fur will likely grow to a medium size. Kana gets along well with his fellow animals and already knows cats. We assume he is a German Shepherd mix and brings along some hunting dog genes. Kana is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes, a mishap shouldn't be held against him, and Kana should always be guided with a positive, reinforcing training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding teenage years are approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down, and often, sweet little babies become medium-sized rebels. They "forget" everything they have learned and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent but loving in training. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Kana would also be very happy to travel to a foster home. Kana travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Of course, he also has an EU pet passport. Ready for Kana? He is looking forward to your inquiry. Thanks, Anja! You gave Kana this unique name and thus an identity. Status: 24.05.

Stand: 24.05.2025

About Kana

What life with Kana looks like

Kana is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
