The Kao is a bit shy and has some difficulty trusting you when you don't know each other. Once he gains trust, however, he is fun, playful, and obedient, yet also independent. He likes to go his own way a bit. He has a good relationship with other dogs, both males and females. During walks he does not pull on the leash and when not tied up he is obedient and does not go far away. He loves to bathe in the stream and play with his walking companion. El Kao és una mica tímid i li costa una mica confiar en tu quan no et coneix. Un cop agafa confiança, però, és divertit, juganer i obedient i alhora independent. Li agrada anar una mica al seu aire.Té bona relació amb els altres gossos tan amb mascles com amb femelles. Durant les passejades no tira de la corretja i quan no va lligat és obedient i no s’allunya gaire. Li encanta banyar-se a la riera i jugar amb el seu company de passeig.
