Adopt Karl Johan

Male · Young · 3 years

Karl Johan is new at the animal shelter so we don't know him very well yet. Male has just been neutered and has come into our adoption room, where male finds everything a bit overwhelming. Male hasn't ventured out of his cage yet, as male seems well-adjusted and comfortable there. However, male doesn't turn down Feliway snacks or nuzzles. Male can actually hardly sit still when nuzzled. We've noticed that if we approach him too quickly, male becomes nervous and anxious around us, so a home with good opportunities to settle into safe surroundings and where there is understanding that male needs to get used to new environments would be good for him. Male would thrive best in a home without young children and other cats. Male is looking for a home where he can go out. We feed him Royal Canin Calm food and we would recommend that male continues with it in his new home.

About Karl Johan

What life with Karl Johan looks like

Karl Johan is a young adult cat waiting at Kattens Vaern in Kattens Vaern.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇰Adopting from Denmark

Danish shelters follow EU pet passport rules and require an adoption contract. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karl Johan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karl Johan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kattens Vaern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karl Johan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karl Johan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kattens Vaern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karl Johan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karl Johan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kattens Vaern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karl Johan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DA). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
