Adopt Karl (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Name Karl Born 15.01.2024 Gender male dog, neutered Breed mixed breed Size rather small, ca. 11 Kilo Foster home Karl has finally made it and is now allowed to move into his forever home. We hope he settles in quickly and that his family enjoys him. The ages mentioned here are often estimated values, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Karl has settled well in his foster home. Still a little impressed by all the new things. But he is a curious little fellow who will surely adapt to the new environment/situation quickly. 1st report from the foster home: Karli is house-trained and a very affectionate little guy who enjoys the company of his person and actively seeks contact. He loves going for walks, is curious and interested in his surroundings. He gets along wonderfully with female dogs and already knows cats. However, when it comes to male dogs and very large dogs, he reacts insecurely – out of fear, he shows more rejection. He loves car rides and has also met cats. The handsome male dog lives with his siblings and parent dogs at the moment with an older lady. Unfortunately, she is no longer able to care for the dogs adequately due to health reasons and has reluctantly decided to rehome the puppies. Karl is a friendly, easy-going, and uncomplicated young man. He knows how to walk on a leash and is compatible with his fellow animals. We would like to help find Karl a new home with responsible people who can give him a dog-friendly family life. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give Karl a second chance at a responsible home. About Karl (vermittelt)

What life with Karl (vermittelt) looks like

Karl (vermittelt) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karl (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karl (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karl (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karl (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karl (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karl (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karl (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
