Adopt Karl

Male · Senior · 10 years

Karl is the golden oldie you have been looking for! Arriving at Battersea Brands Hatch as a stray, Karl quickly wormed his way into the hearts of those caring for him. Karl has a heart of gold and adores being with his people, in true Staffie style he likes to be near you at all times, whether that's having his belly scratched or sleeping at our feet while we type away in the offices. He is looking for new owners who will be able to build up the time he is left alone gradually as he has shown signs of separation anxiety. Being a stray we have limited information around his past life but have found him to be a wonderful chap with a slightly sensitive side. He would need a home where he is the only dog, although he has enjoyed making friends onsite he has show to be stressed and worried around larger dogs. Karl would also need his own private garden so he can relax in his own space while settling into a new home. Though he may be an older gentleman Karl still has lots of excitement In his life and loves nothing more then food and when people come to see him so we feel he could live with teens who would not be phased by his energy! If you can see this boy filling up the space next to you on the sofa and curling up at your feet. Please do get in touch as per below: If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Karl , you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. ch for the dog in question.

About Karl

What life with Karl looks like

Karl is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
