Karla und Lea

Mixed Breed · Female

Karla and Lea are two sweet girls in one of our foster homes. Their foster mom writes about them: Double cat luck: Karla & Lea are searching together for their forever home Two little sisters, two different characters and a common wish: to finally arrive. Karla and Lea are two enchanting cat girls who had to learn early on that life doesn't always start easy. In mid-August, they were found at the age of about eight weeks: underweight, worm-infested and full of fleas. Luckily, they were able to come to safety and can now gradually discover how beautiful a sheltered cat life can be. Today, the two are little personalities who could hardly be more different and yet complement each other wonderfully. Karla, the brave little explorer Karla is a curious, playful and lively young cat lady. She explores her surroundings with great interest and gets along very well with other cats. She is also a bit further along with people than her sister. With some trust, she occasionally lets herself be stroked and even picked up once. But even our little brave one needs rest, patience and people who respect her boundaries. Trust cannot be forced and Karla can decide for herself when she is ready for the next step. Lea, the cautious little heartbreaker Lea is a rather reserved cat girl with a very special look. At first, we thought she was a little tomcat and called her Leopold. Only later did it turn out that our supposed Leopold was actually a Lea. She is still a bit shy, but she always seeks out her people's company. She likes to decide for herself how much closeness is just pleasant for her. She likes to play, explores her surroundings curiously and just as much likes to retreat to a quiet spot to relax undisturbed. Lea needs especially a lot of time and trust. Her small steps towards her people are all the more valuable. Together they are a small dream team So different as they are, they have one thing in common: they need people who accept them as they are. Karla may show her sister a little how exciting the world can be, while Lea reminds her that sometimes you just need a safe retreat. That's why we would like to place the two sisters together in a loving home. They should be able to experience their further development side by side and find people who give them the time to arrive at their own pace. We wish for their dream home for Karla and Lea a quiet, understanding home with people with patience and empathy. People who do not expect that the two will be cuddly lap cats from day one, but who are happy about every small token of trust. They need retreat options, a safe environment, loving attention without pressure and the possibility to approach their people themselves. Whoever gives them this chance may accompany two young cat girls on their very personal journey, with all the small progress, playful moments and precious moments in which caution slowly becomes trust. Two sisters. Two little souls. A common home. Who would like to give Karla and Lea the chance to arrive together, discover their world and be loved for life? Maybe the home is waiting for you, where two cautious foundlings can become two happy cats. A large apartment with a secured balcony would be possible, but they would also be very happy about outdoor access. If you are interested in Karla and Lea, please write to us under

About Karla und Lea

What life with Karla und Lea looks like

Karla und Lea is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karla und Lea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karla und Lea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karla und Lea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karla und Lea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Karla und Lea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karla und Lea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karla und Lea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
