Karolcia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Story Often we hear about dogs who are unfortunate, locked in houses without the possibility to go for a walk, sniff around, meet other dogs and people, completely separated from the outside world. Do you think this is some kind of pathology? Not at all... This was the fate of Karolcia, a sun that had been sitting under a radiator in an apartment for a year, although there was a terrace and garden just next door. She was saved by kind-hearted people, but good heart wasn't enough to provide her with a happy life. People meant well, but they didn't have the conditions or sufficient knowledge to properly help Karolcia, which resulted in this little sun ending up in a dog hotel with a behaviorist. There she came back to life, her good mood returned, and she remembered what it is like to be a dog - carefree and loving to play with other dogs. She still keeps her distance from people, but in the company of dogs she feels safe enough to sleep soundly - on the sofa, next to the hotel's caregiver, and in the morning she demands food and going to the garden along with everyone else. Karolcia is a micro-sun who has her own opinion and expectations towards life. Her world is definitely dogs and nature, so she will find herself in a house with a garden and a friendly dog companion.

About Karolcia

What life with Karolcia looks like

Karolcia is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana in Warszawa.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karolcia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karolcia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karolcia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karolcia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karolcia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karolcia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karolcia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
