Adopt Karoline

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Karoline – quiet heroine ready to leap into life → Breed: mixed breed → Sex: female → Born: 04/2024 → Size / Weight: 45 cm / 18 kg → Neutered: yes → Vaccinated: yes → Identification: Chip → Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs → Incompatible with: N/A → Sponsorships possible: yes Description Karoline is a female dog you can't overlook… but you might only truly notice her on second glance. And that second glance is well worth it. She came to us as a mother, always with two little daughters by her side. Quiet, reliable, simply there – just like a good mother should be. Now her two daughters are ready for their own paths. And Karoline? She stands at this very point herself. She is young, medium-sized, with a beautiful fur pattern – but what's even more intriguing is what you don't see right away. Karoline isn't a daredevil. She's more of the type who says, "I'll take a good look at this… and then I'll decide." And that's exactly what makes her so agreeable. She has never known a real home. No sofa, no everyday life, no sense of belonging. Just the kennel – and even there, she makes the best of it. But you can tell: there's more waiting out there. Much more. Maybe one day she will run enthusiastically through meadows, maybe she will discover how wonderful walks can be, maybe she will simply enjoy the quiet presence of "her" people. Karoline seems like a dog who doesn't dream loudly – but deeply.

About Karoline

What life with Karoline looks like

Karoline is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karoline, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karoline?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karoline on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karoline if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karoline already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karoline isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karoline and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
