adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Kate can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: The start of Kate's life was far from perfect. Exactly what happened to her, no one can say. Fortunately, Kate was brought to our Public Shelter Bistrita. Here, she is safe and receives adequate food, but unfortunately, there is a lack of necessary time to properly care for puppies in the shelter and teach them more about human interaction. We wish so much that Kate could soon move into her new home, because winter has already knocked on the door… Winter in Bistrita is comparably harsh. During weather fluctuations, temperatures can reach down to –15 degrees. For the dogs, this is barely tolerable. The climate is even harder on puppies. Kate is a beautiful, approximately 3.5-month-old girl, weighing in at just 5kg. With her cream-colored fur, floppy ears, and puppyish gaze, she can wrap anyone around her paw. She is described by our helpers as sweet, playful, and very friendly towards people. Additionally, Kate gets along well with her fellow animals. She has approached cats curiously and playfully so far. Kate has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of her. Here, she needs people who can approach her with much love and patience, and possibly also attend positive dog training classes with her to forgive her one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will surely test boundaries and perhaps forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Kate will definitely become a great lifelong partner. Kate is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive foster home trial. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet Kate. Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Anja M.! You named Kate. Date: 10.02.

Vielen Dank an Anja M.! Du hast Kate ihren Namen geschenkt. About Kate

What life with Kate looks like

Kate is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kate, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kate?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kate on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kate if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kate already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kate isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kate and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
