Adopt Katea (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

<3 at a foster home in 90475 Nuremberg <3 Katea arrived at our foster home on Saturday. The little mouse is 5 months old, currently weighs 10 kg, and has a shoulder height of about 39 cm. She is still quite unsure at the moment, but she occasionally lets her sweet little stubbornness shine through. Katea learns incredibly fast and seems to bring the temperament of three dogs in a compact package. She wishes for a home where she can learn the puppy ABCs with calmness, patience, and loving consistency. If she lacks the necessary orientation, she quickly gets stressed and tries to handle the situation in her own unique way—with a lot of effort and a healthy portion of stubbornness. Then she needs people who can convey security to her with a calm and sovereign manner and show her that she doesn't have to take over everything herself. In general, it currently still proves difficult for Katea to calm down—also in the house. After all, life is exciting, and something important could happen anywhere. Therefore, she is looking for people who can give her the necessary structure, help her to calm down in exciting or unfamiliar situations, and show her that it's okay to relax sometimes. Katea is looking for an active home. We can imagine that she will later be enthusiastic about hiking, jogging, or cycling. Dog sports could also make her very happy, of course, only when she has grown up. Where exactly her strengths lie, time will show—this little power mouse certainly comes with the best prerequisites. Who gives Katea a home where she can arrive lovingly, find orientation, and later unleash her entire energy? Who takes on a clever, temperamental, and sometimes chaotic young dog will get a great companion with a lot of potential by her side. KATEA has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas, and has been with Snap4D testing and an EU-Pass. She will be rehomed with V. contact: or on fb All our dogs travel with official Trace papers, and of course, we also have Paragraph 11.

About Katea (w)

What life with Katea (w) looks like

Katea (w) is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katea (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katea (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katea (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katea (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katea (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katea (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katea (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
