Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Kathy has found her home! Her story: Kathy – Joyful Power Package searching for her favorite people. Kathy is approximately 2 years old, about 55 cm tall, and likely a Labrador mix – with all the typical traits that make these wonderful dogs so special! She was rescued by our team member Dorel from a very poor neighborhood where she had to live under poor conditions. Dorel convinced the owners to give Kathy up in exchange for urgently needed food. So she got the chance for a better life. Kathy is an energetic, lively female dog who seeks contact with people and loves to be in the spotlight. She enjoys cuddles very much and enchants with her friendly, open nature, making everyone smile quickly. At her age, of course, Kathy still has plenty of energy: With great enthusiasm, she plays and romps with her cage mates, is curious, and challenges life! Kathy could easily envision a home with a family with children. However, the children should be well-behaved and familiar with a loving and responsible way of handling dogs. She also gets along excellently with other dogs and would surely be happy with a playful doggy buddy by her side. For Kathy, we wish for an active home where she can both snuggle and play and go on discovery tours together. Whoever has her by their side gets a true sunshiny dog who enriches family life and is ready to learn everything new. Do you want to welcome Kathy into your heart and home? Then contact us! After positive evaluation, she travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, and has her EU pet passport in her luggage. A big thank you to Gaby R., who gave Kathy a name and thus the chance at a family. As of: 19.06.

Stand: 19.06.2025

About Kathy

What life with Kathy looks like

Kathy is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kathy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kathy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kathy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kathy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kathy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kathy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kathy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
