Katina

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Katina was found on the streets of Andalusiens with her siblings and brought to our partner shelter in La Linea. In April, she arrived at a foster home. The young female dog was born in November 2021 and stands about 35 cm at the shoulder. The little one has developed wonderfully in her foster home over the past weeks. Now, all that's missing is her own family for her happiness. Katina has bonded strongly with her primary caregiver, enjoys being stroked, and seeks their company. Katina is now a happy, carefree puppy with her foster mom - no longer a comparison to the anxious dog that arrived with us in April. She responds to her name, is always available, and has already learned to sit. Katina takes great joy in accompanying her foster mom on rides and walking alongside the horse. The little one has adapted to the daily routines of the foster home. She still needs many repetitions and routines for her safety. In the house, she behaves quietly and unobtrusively. Katina is already house-trained. The young female dog loves the garden and keeps herself occupied there. She carries her teddy around and throws balls to chase after them. When she sees her harness, she knows it's time for a walk and willingly lets her primary caregiver put it on. You can take Katina for walks. She already walks well on the leash. On walks, she now ignores cars, bicycles, baby strollers, and is much more self-assured. Katina travels calmly and willingly in the car. In the foster home, she lives problem-free with other dogs and even cats, often invites them to play, and is overall a very social dog. When with other dogs, Katina remains alone without causing any damage. Strangers are still a threat to Katina, and she refuses contact. So far, it has not been possible to speak to or look at Katina without her reacting with barking or growling out of insecurity. For Katina, we are looking for people with experience in dealing with anxious dogs and who have enough quiet time and patience to help her with her adaptation. Katinas new family should not have any expectations and should live in a quiet, rural area. Katina can only be rehomed to an already existing, independent dog. Contact: RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_e1a4cb6d"); Katina is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, tested for Mediterranean diseases, and will be rehomed with an EU pet passport.

About Katina

What life with Katina looks like

Katina is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Spanien e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Spanien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Spanien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Spanien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
