Katja

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

♀, born ca. May 2026, friendly - social, in Bulgaria Katja, born in May 2026, is a small mixed breed girl who will grow to be medium-sized. Sometimes, just one moment can decide between life and death. Kaya and her siblings Leo and Teo had such a moment: the three were discovered on the edge of a country road - far too close to traffic, hidden among bushes, scared and disoriented. They kept running onto the road as cars rushed past them. It's hard to imagine how quickly this could have ended tragically. Luckily, they were seen in time and brought to safety. Now the little ones are finally where they belong: safe. She is a typical puppy - playful, curious and friendly, with that delicate courage that grows a bit bigger every day. You can tell she's just starting to understand the world: everything is exciting, everything wants to be discovered, and after each adventure, she seeks closeness to recharge. According to current estimates, Katja and her siblings are expected to grow into medium-sized dogs. For Kaya, we wish for people who not only find a puppy "cute" but are really willing to take responsibility: with time, patience, loving consistency and the desire to give a small life security - forever. Kaya is looking for a home where she can arrive, trust can grow and from a rescued doggy child become a happy companion for life. Katja will be vaccinated and chipped. For the Snap 4-D test and spaying/neutering, she is still too young. She is in Bulgaria. The deposit fee for Katja is €480. Do you have a suitable home for Katja? About Katja

What life with Katja looks like

Katja is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
