Adopt Katy

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 13 years

Katy is a very special little dog. She fought her way back to life with incredible strength and an inspiring will to survive. Despite her delicate appearance, she has the heart of a true warrior. She wanted to live – and you can feel that in every single moment with her.Katy was hit by a car and came to our shelter afterward. In the beginning, she dragged her legs behind her and was unable to control her bladder. Step by step, she fought her way back. Today she is able to use her legs again, although her hind legs are still a bit wobbly. Her bladder is no longer an issue.Katy loves calm and quiet surroundings. She doesn’t like being the center of attention and prefers simply being there without too much noise or excitement around her. She doesn’t demand attention, but she truly loves spending time with people. Gentle strokes and cuddles are her little piece of heaven – she accepts them with gratitude and complete devotion. She gets along well with other dogs, even if she is rather reserved around them. What matters most to Katy is a peaceful, loving home where she feels safe, cherished, and free to just be herself. If you give Katy a home, you will gain a quiet heroine – strong, gentle, and full of heart.Katy is a truly special dog. About Katy

What life with Katy looks like

Katy is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at A.I.R.S. Foundation in Cyprus.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇾Adopting from Cyprus

Cypriot rescues focus heavily on cross-border placements (the island has more strays than local adopters). Animals are fully vetted before flying. The adopter pays the transport, while the shelter coordinates vaccinations, chipping, and the passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.I.R.S. Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.I.R.S. Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.I.R.S. Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
