adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Kaya found a happy new home! The affectionate Kaya just wants to arrive. The charming senior female dog had it seemingly not easy in her life so far. She was brought into our care with her three puppies by the dog catchers. Unfortunately, her babies all died from parvovirus. But our Kaya is a fighter. She desperately longs for love and affection. However, she is initially very, very cautious, although not really shy. The hunger for affection always wins with her 😊 It's likely she hasn't always had good experiences with people. But it's time for her story to be rewritten and for her to learn what it means to not have to worry, not to be hungry enough, or to not get enough love. For Kaya, we are looking for people who won't expect anything from her at first and will let her come in peace. Life in the house might be just as foreign as the dog ABC. But at 6 years old, she is in the best age and ready to start all over again. Kaya is already looking forward to beautiful nature walks, possibly a visit to a dog training class, and above all: snuggling, snuggling, snuggling! We are sure that Kaya will integrate well into family life. Kaya is very friendly towards other dogs. With her approximate height of 50-53 cm, she has a nice, medium size, and when she looks at you with her big eyes, it's hard to resist and not fall in love with her. Kaya has already packed her luggage. She travels microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, with her EU pet passport in tow. After a positive But also a foster home would help her start on a better path. Kaya is already looking forward to your inquiry. Thanks, Silke W.! You gave Kaya a name and thus an identity. As of: 10.11.

Stand: 10.11.2024

About Kaya

What life with Kaya looks like

Kaya is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
