Kelly

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Kelly is a spayed miniature pinscher mix puppy born in May 2023. She was seized from a puppy mill and brought to the animal shelter of our Hungarian partner organization. She is an adorable and friendly young lady who initially approaches unfamiliar people with some apprehension and needs a bit of time to settle in. Once she gains trust, however, she reveals herself as a very affectionate and cheerful companion who is grateful for every kind word. She’s a lively and intelligent girl who learns quickly and enjoys engaging in activities together. In principle, Kelly would make an excellent family dog—but children should already be teenagers. She gets along effortlessly with all other dogs, never provokes conflicts, and would be a great choice as a second dog. Cats are also welcome in the same household. Kelly is looking for loving, active people who will patiently help her adjust to her new life, have plenty of free time, and preferably live in a rural area or on the outskirts of town. Some prior experience in dog ownership would be beneficial. The puppy stands 23 cm tall at the shoulder and weighs approximately 3 kg.

About Kelly

What life with Kelly looks like

Kelly is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kelly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kelly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kelly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kelly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kelly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kelly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kelly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
