Kenny

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Kitten · 5 months

Hey, my name is Kenny, and I’m a little boy with the softest fur you could possibly imagine and I'm looking for a new home.I used to be a rather shy boy. The world felt so big and bewildering, and I wasn’t always sure what to make of the humans around me. But lately, I’ve been discovering that people can be rather nice, especially when they come armed with lots of love and plenty of affection!I’ve really started coming out of my shell, and I’m rather proud of myself. These days, I’m much more likely to come over for some fuss, rub myself against your legs to say hello, or even flop onto the floor right in front of you for some lovely strokes. If you happen to be nearby, I might just decide it’s time for a little attention. After all, once you discover how nice a good fuss feels, why would you want to keep all that gorgeous softness to yourself? And speaking of softness, did I mention that I have the softest fur ever? Honestly, it’s quite a special feature of mine, and I do enjoy having it stroked. Gentle pets are becoming one of my favourite things, and I’m learning that being close to people can be a very lovely experience. In fact, I’ve even started sitting on the lap of my favourite carer! Settling down with a human to enjoy some proper cuddle time is a big step for a boy like me, and it shows just how far I’ve come. I’m beginning to discover that laps can be wonderfully cosy places, especially when they belong to someone you trust. Now, I’m not quite ready to run up to every new person I meet and introduce myself just yet. I can still be wary around people I don’t know, and I’ll need a little time to feel comfortable in a new home. But please don’t mistake my shyness for a lack of affection. Once I start to feel safe, there’s a much more confident, loving boy waiting to show himself. That’s why I’m hoping to find a home with another friendly, confident cat who can help me continue learning the ropes. Having a feline friend to watch and follow would be such a wonderful help. They can show me all the important things about being a cat, from playing and exploring to finding the best sunny spots and generally going about life without worrying too much.I’ll also need kind, patient humans who understand that settling in takes time. I might hide away a little at first while I get used to my new surroundings, but with a calm environment, gentle encouragement, and the freedom to approach you when I’m ready, I’m hopeful that I’ll soon be rubbing around your legs and asking for a cuddle again. I’ve already come such a long way, and I’m only just getting started. I need someone who can see my potential, celebrate my little milestones, and give me the chance to become the happiest, most confident version of myself.Could you be the one to help me with the next chapter? I’d love the chance to meet you. NAWT Hertfordshire Tylers Way Watford-By-Pass Hertfordshire Watford WD25 8WT Choose an item from our Amazon wish-list and it will come straight to us! About Kenny

What life with Kenny looks like

Kenny is a large kitten mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kenny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kenny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kenny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kenny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kenny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kenny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kenny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
