Kenzo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 8 years

Kenzo - a small dog searching for his big happiness Kenzo has found great happiness and made the jump to his temporary kennel in Germany. It becomes clear that he is a lovable but timid and sensitive little guy who needs time to gain trust. In the first days, Kenzo did not want to go into the house or be touched, but he has now made initial progress: He allows his foster family to touch him and also goes into the house. His development shows that a lot can be achieved with patience and understanding for Kenzo. Nevertheless, Kenzo remains an uncertain dog, especially in situations that seem threatening to him. Due to fear, he may bite when suddenly approached or pressured. He barks when he feels overwhelmed and is then difficult to calm down. He also meets men with particular caution. Kenzo is cautious with other dogs, but not incompatible. He needs time to build trust and prefers to observe first. But he is also beginning to open up slowly and gaining confidence day by day. His caretakers are an important orientation for him. We wish for Kenzo people who understand him and give him the patience and time he needs. People who approach him with great empathy and patience at his own pace, give him security, and are reliable contact persons. For Kenzo, we are looking for a quiet, experienced dog-friendly home without small children. Adopting a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring along a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adapt to their new life. They are aware of this responsibility and have a serious interest in adopting Kenzo? Please contact the responsible adoption officer of SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. The contact details are below.

About Kenzo

What life with Kenzo looks like

Kenzo is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kenzo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kenzo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kenzo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kenzo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kenzo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kenzo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kenzo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
