Kermit

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten

Male stray/more likely indoor, born circa 2020, British Shorthair, neutered yes/no, in shelter since 06.08.2026 _________________________ We test each cat with a rapid test for FIV ("cat aids", info here!) and FeLV ("cat leukemia", info here!) and inform about the status. We inform here about the risk of FIP disease ("peritonitis", info here!). _________________________ The sweet Kermit was found emaciated in Marburg-Wehrda. He had severe parasite infestation, was unneutered, had a chip, but it was not registered. He seems to be nowhere missing. Initially, Kermit showed himself very communicative, he has relaxed a bit and is quieter and more comfortable, but also likes to play with the feather lure and can then really get going. He is a nice, sociable, curious cat, likes to be stroked and enjoys getting a lot of attention. With other cats he behaves cautiously, not confrontational, but a bit uncertain. If they treat him friendly and do not pressure him, he gets along well with them, but is a bit clumsy. We would like him to have a nice, unhurried and social partner cat by his side. We primarily look for a place for Kermit as an indoor cat, but with a safe balcony. In a quiet environment, a habituation to outdoor access is not excluded. Due to his breed, Kermit is characterized by brachycephaly and has watery eyes and a flatter nose than normal. British Shorthair cats also have more problems with shortened palates, heart defects and dental problems, this should be taken into account when taking over. We wish the cuddly cat a nice, loving home that spoils him a bit and gives him a lot of relaxation. _________________________ (as of 27.09.2026) (Click on the pictures to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or reassessments. It can always happen that an animal shows itself differently or develops differently here in the shelter as well as in the new home due to changed circumstances. männlich Fundtier/eher Wohnungshaltung Geboren ca. 2020 BKH Kastriert ja / [] nein Im Tierheim seit 06.08.2026 ________________________ Wir testen jede Katze per Schnelltest auf FIV („Katzen-Aids“, Infos hier!) und FeLV („Katzen-Leukose“, Infos hier!) und klären über den Status auf. About Kermit

What life with Kermit looks like

Kermit is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kermit, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kermit?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kermit on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kermit if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kermit already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kermit isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kermit and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
