Adopt Keule

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Puppy

Keule came to us through a seizure in April 2026. Character: sensitive, active, demanding, alert, clever, eager to learn, energetic, persistent. General: Keule is a good training partner in a stimulating environment. He knows basic commands such as sit, stay and come, and responds reasonably to the recall. His leash manners are already commendable in familiar surroundings. Interactions with other animals are not always relaxed, and he often responds to direct eye contact with provocation, although he is generally not incompatible. During a behavioral assessment, it was shown that he is very toy-focused and then has difficulty regulating himself. People with unusual appearances unsettle him and cause threatening behavior if the other end of the leash does not take over. Keule needs a clear framework and the right amount of boundaries and encouragement to show his best side and has already made great progress in the animal shelter. Suitable mental stimulation: target searching, focused movement tasks, such as fitness training and ninja dogs. Other: compatibility with other dogs with male dogs: Limited compatibility with other dogs with female dogs: Limited Alertness: very alert prey drive: he reacts to movement stimuli Ideal home: Environment: city and country possible Animal companions: No Children: from 16 years old Suitable for another dog: No Requirements for applicants: The athletic male dog is looking for an experienced home, with consistent leadership, so that he continues to develop well. With clear boundaries and daily exercise, Keule has the potential to be a loyal companion. Applicants should meet the requirements and keeping conditions for listed dogs. If you are interested in Keule, please send us a completed application form via sufficiently stamped mail or email, which is available for download on our homepage (home page). After that, a staff member of our animal shelter will contact you to discuss the next steps. Photos by Pascal Wieczorek www.wildpawsphoto.de (Date: 11.05.2026 / AK)

Bilder Pascal Wieczorek www.wildpawsphoto.de (Stand: 11.05.2026 / AK)

About Keule

What life with Keule looks like

Keule is a large puppy/kitten staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Keule, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Keule?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Keule on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Keule if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Keule already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Keule isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Keule and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
