Khaleesi

Mixed Breed · Female · Baby

Female Hermelin or Dwarf Rabbit Age unknown Found animal Neutered yes/no At the shelter since 11.09.2026 ________________________ Khaleesi came as a found animal from Dautphe to us, she could be observed for weeks and finally secured. The circumstances suggest that she was abandoned, it seems that no one misses her at least. She is a funny, cheerful rabbit girl, shows herself curious and lively with caregivers. We are looking for a loving home for her, which does not pressure her, but gives her a lot of care and affection. She currently lives indoors. Due to the current temperatures, she can only be accustomed to outdoor keeping next spring. Of course, Khaleesi would definitely like to move in the company of a suitable conspecific or a group. For her and a partner, a beautiful, large enclosure with enrichment and retreat options, which does not fall below the 6qm ground area, as also specified by the Veterinary Association, should be constantly usable. The larger, or the more additional exercise is available, the better of course. Furthermore, of course, attention should be paid to species-appropriate nutrition (i.e. no pellet/dry food but fresh greens, good hay, herbs etc.) and a reliable supply. We ask you to note that rabbits, like most small pets, are well suited as "observation animals", but should not serve as "first pet" for children. ________________________ (as of 26.09.2026) (Click on the pictures to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or reassessments. It can always happen that an animal shows or develops differently both here in the shelter and in the new home due to changed circumstances. Back to the overview

About Khaleesi

What life with Khaleesi looks like

Khaleesi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Khaleesi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Khaleesi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Khaleesi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Khaleesi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Khaleesi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Khaleesi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Khaleesi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
