Khara (Хара)

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

Hara has spent nearly her entire life in a family setting. Several years ago, the owner moved to Europe, leaving Hara with tenants. It was these tenants who had been caring for the dog all along. In April of this year, Hara began losing strength in her hind legs. At first, she only occasionally stumbled, but her condition gradually worsened. Over the past month, it became significantly harder for her to walk. When the tenants decided to move out, the owner found new residents and suggested putting Hara to sleep. Friends of the former tenants couldn't accept such a decision and reached out to us. That's how Hara ended up at the shelter. An examination revealed spinal fusion. Unfortunately, this condition is incurable, but supportive therapy can help ease her symptoms and maintain her mobility. Despite her diagnosis, Hara remains an active, highly intelligent, and incredibly sociable dog. She knows commands exceptionally well, loves people, calmly tolerates cats and other dogs, and shows no aggression whatsoever. For most of her life, Hara was used for breeding at a kennel. As she grew older and her health declined, her life was prematurely brought to an end by a single decision. Today, Hara is 12 years old. We really hope to find a loving family for her—preferably people who are familiar with and passionate about this breed. A family that will provide Hara with care, warmth, and the opportunity to spend her remaining years at home, surrounded by her beloved human companion. After all, no dog deserves to spend her golden years without a home.

About Khara (Хара)

What life with Khara (Хара) looks like

Khara (Хара) is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Dnipro in Ukraine.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Khara (Хара), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Khara (Хара)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Dnipro handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Khara (Хара) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Khara (Хара) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Dnipro will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Khara (Хара) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Khara (Хара) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Dnipro early rather than rehoming privately; they know Khara (Хара) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
