Khera (Хера)

Mixed Breed · Female

Found on: February 17, 2023 Found in: Balchik, Bulgaria Hera is our Goddess, our Queen, and our brave Heroine from a very dangerous and sad story. We met Hera a year and a half ago, when we began cleaning up our cat colony. She lived in a yard next door. She had apparently just weaned her puppies, and they were no longer there. The very next day we caught her and took her to be spayed. Since then, because we are there every day, Hera became our friend and greeted us every day with her enormous smile. We feed her, vaccinated her, microchipped her, and deworm her regularly. Although it is not our responsibility but the neighbors', we take care of her. But... Hera is a pit bull mix, well-fed and good-looking, and there is not a gram of aggression in her. This week we noticed that Hera was gone. One day, a second day, a third day, Hera was gone. This is extremely unusual. We immediately set out to ask where Hera was. We were told that some young guys had come, had liked her, and had taken her against her will. This alarmed us immediately, because nothing good awaits a dog like that. Who they were and where they came from, nobody knows. Hera is in great danger. We posted in the Balchik group that the dog is ours, that she has a microchip and a passport, that Hera is spayed and not fit for breeding, and that we are waiting two days for our dog or we will involve every possible institution. Exactly 3 hours later we began receiving messages from various guys saying they knew where the dog was, that she was with them, and that they hadn't known she was ours. The dog was in a neighboring village. We gathered immediately and set off. And yes, Hera was there, tied to a meter-long chain, lying in despair among the trash. She was almost invisible in the garbage. The moment she heard our voices, Hera began to howl, calling out to us, overjoyed; she understood that we had come to save her. Thank God, we took her without any problem and immediately settled her in our small but love-filled yard. Hera was very stressed, very frightened, and overexcited. Exactly 2 hours later, Hera's smile was back on her face. She was at home among her friends. Hera is with us and will stay with us until we find her a good home and a suitable owner. She is a young dog with no aggression in her at all, only an abundance of love in her heart. She can live both in a house and in a nice, secure yard with suitable conditions, but never tied up.

About Khera (Хера)

What life with Khera (Хера) looks like

Khera (Хера) is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fluffy Paws Of Bulgaria in Bulgaria.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Khera (Хера), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Khera (Хера)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fluffy Paws Of Bulgaria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Khera (Хера) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Khera (Хера) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fluffy Paws Of Bulgaria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Khera (Хера) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Khera (Хера) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fluffy Paws Of Bulgaria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Khera (Хера) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (BG). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
