Kiara

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Kiara, female dog born in 2024. Kiara is about 2 years old, weighing just under 10 kg. She is a medium-sized dog with a very subtle, sensitive character. Her health is good, she has no problems with appetite, although she only eats when a person is not around - which clearly shows how strong her fear and need for security are. Kiara came to the animal shelter as an extremely frightened and withdrawn dog. For a long time she did not leave her kennel, which was her only safe place. The presence of people was very difficult for her - it caused tension and strong stress. Kiara tends to "freeze" in difficult situations, which is a typical fearful reaction in dogs with such high sensitivity. At this moment, she is not able to walk on a leash. Thanks to the calm and consistent work of the caretakers, she is beginning to make small but very important progress. She is becoming better at navigating the yard, where she feels more secure than in direct contact with people. She is also starting to interact with other dogs - not only does she tolerate them, but she is slowly beginning to try to play, which is a very positive sign. Kiara tolerates human touch, but is still withdrawn and does not seek contact. Every new situation is a big challenge for her and can cause fear, so she requires very careful and calm introduction to new environments. She is a dog that does not bark, does not impose itself - rather it withdraws and closes itself off, trying to cope with emotions. Kiara has formed an exceptionally strong bond with female dog Boyka, with whom she came to the animal shelter. It is with her that she feels most secure - thanks to her presence, she gains courage in the yard, explores the surroundings more willingly and usually tries to play with her. We are looking for an exceptionally patient and aware home for Kiary, preferably in a quiet environment, without an excess of stimuli. The new caregiver should be ready to continue the process of taming and building trust - without pressure, with full respect for her boundaries. For her, it is crucial to create a predictable, safe environment and allow her to open up at her own pace. Kiara has great potential, but she needs time, calmness and wise guidance. This is an offer for a person who understands anxious dogs and is ready to accompany her on the path to feeling safe and trusting. Kiara is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and sterilized.

Kiara, suczka urodzona w 2024 roku. Kiara to około 2-letnia suczka, ważąca niecałe 10 kg.

About Kiara

What life with Kiara looks like

Kiara is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
