Kicko

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Kicko has found a home! His story: 29693 Hademstorf. Kicko finally made it, after what felt like an eternity, he was able to trade his kennel for a foster home and a large pack of caregivers. The little guy only knew the kennel until recently, and everything else—other dogs, strangers—was foreign to him. His development in such a short time has been wonderful. Kicko is around 3 years old, 35 cm tall, and looks like a German Shepherd shrunk to the size of a dachshund, just as big in his head, so his voice is small but oh boy, he could be described as. He lives in a mixed pack and is compatible and social with all, he neither seeks conflict nor is defiant, he runs from the start, sovereignly with and oriented to the other dogs. When the doorbell rings, the little guy turns into a "watchdog" and shows what's in his voice, and his herding dog genes come through again, of course in a positive way. Kicko is still shy, doesn't want to be constantly touched, and looks for people who give him time and train with him and engage with him in a quiet manner. Without pressure, but with the necessary strength and consistency, to help him into a better life and get rid of his insecurities. The foster home could imagine Kicko in the future as a loyal, great, and brave companion dog. Household noises don't bother him. He has a strong nervous system and seeks contact with people. He still doesn't know that he is regularly stroked, but he very much likes to be near people and seeks contact in this way. He is happiest where his people are! He already takes treats out of his hand and lets touches on his head. He also already reacts to his name a little and comes when called, and always wants to be rewarded for it. house-trained Kicko is also small and signals when he needs to go out. In the house, he is a quiet companion and enjoys the soft dog beds very much. The foster home could also imagine Kicko as a single dog, as he worships his people. Of course, another dog could be in the home as well, if there is still enough time for him. Small children should not be in the house, as they could unintentionally pressure him. He currently has no problems being alone with other dogs for a few hours without causing damage. In summary, we are looking for people with experience, people who give him time but treat him like a big dog and not a lap dog. Kicko wants to be occupied and noticed and needs a lot of love and affection to continue to be able to settle well. Our dear Kicko travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his own EU pet ID to his new home. Positive German Shepherd on dachshund legs? Then sign up quickly! Many thanks Angela G.! You gave Chep his name and thus his identity.

Dann melde dich schnell! Vielen Dank Angela G.! About Kicko

What life with Kicko looks like

Kicko is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kicko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kicko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kicko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kicko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kicko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kicko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kicko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
