Kiki

Female · Senior · 14 years

Kiki is a friendly and gentle female cat who initially approaches new people with some reserve. She needs time to build trust and adjust to a new environment. If given this time and met with patience and understanding, she reveals herself as a loving and pleasant companion. Kiki is a calm animal and enjoys a structured routine without haste. Due to her blindness, she navigates her surroundings particularly well in a consistent and quiet environment. Once she has settled in, she finds her way around her home with ease. It is important that her environment remains as unchanged as possible and she has the opportunity to explore everything at her own pace. In addition to her blindness, Kiki has kidney problems and therefore needs people who take her health needs into account and provide her with the necessary care. With the right care and a loving home, she can still lead a happy and fulfilling life as a cat. Kiki is housebroken and desires a quiet home where she can feel safe and secure. She is not suitable for homes with dogs or households with children or toddlers, as she needs a stress-free environment that meets her special needs. We are looking for a loving home for Kiki with calm people who will approach her with patience, understanding, and care. Those who give her the time to build trust will have a gentle and grateful companion by their side who will greatly appreciate the peace and security of her new home.

About Kiki

What life with Kiki looks like

Kiki is a senior cat waiting at Hamburger Tierschutzverein in Hamburg.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hamburger Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hamburger Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hamburger Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
