adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Kimani can stay forever in your foster home! Her story: Kimani was probably abandoned with her sisters Freia and Melle. The three sisters found shelter in a closed pipeline and stole potatoes and tomatoes from the neighbor's garden to satisfy their hunger. Fortunately, this wasn't unnoticed, and the garden owner became aware of the three sisters and brought them to our shelter. Kimani is the smallest of the sisters and will probably not grow much more. Additionally, she is also the quietest of the three and suffers a lot from the cold and wet days in the shelter. Most of the time, she cuddles with her sisters and tries to protect herself from the cold in the warm straw. Kimani is looking for people who don't expect much from her and show her how a normal dog life works. She is still young and has to learn a lot. Sometimes, a little mishap shouldn't be held against her, and Kimani should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours, and also a visit to the puppy school. In the first year of life, dogs shouldn't be left alone as much as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent but loving in training. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Have your interest been piqued? Then don't wait. Kimani shouldn't spend the rest of her life in the shelter. As soon as Kimani has all her vaccinations, she is ready for her new life. Then she will be fully vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and microchipped. She will also bring her EU pet passport. Against an adoption fee of 500 Euro, Kimani would also be happy with a foster home. Many thanks to Susann G.! You gave Kimani her name! Date: 18.10.

Vielen Dank Susann G.! Du hast Kimani ihren Namen geschenkt! Stand: 18.10.2024

About Kimani

What life with Kimani looks like

Kimani is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimani, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimani?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimani on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimani if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimani already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimani isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimani and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
