***Kimba

Female

There are dogs that touch you at first glance—not because of their size, but because of their gaze. Our Kimba is exactly such a soul. At almost 6 years old, the beautiful American Bully XL female dog (now neutered) is actually in the best age to discover the world. But Kimba’s story is not an easy one. A heart of gold in a body that needs help. Kimba loves people more than anything. Whether big or small, she approaches everyone openly and would like to crawl into their lap—despite forgetting that she brings a proud 47 kg to the scale. She is an absolute cuddle bear, longing to finally 'fit in' and be loved. Honest words: Kimba’s backpack is heavy. We don’t want to gloss over anything: Kimba is a victim of her breed’s history, a so-called puppy mill. Her genetics have put many obstacles in her way. From arthritis to rolled eyelids, to cruciate ligament injuries, and extreme stress on her elbows due to her heavy front end—unfortunately, Kimba will always be a 'work in progress.' What we do for her—and what her new home must provide: Currently, Kimba is on a full well-being program to help her go through daily life without pain: - Regular physiotherapy: To support the muscles in holding up the joints. - High-quality nutritional supplements: To keep inflammation in check. - Medical care: We have already had gait analysis and surgeries to improve her quality of life. Your perfect home: Kimba is looking for a very special nest. As she has had problems with fellow animals in the past and absolutely dislikes cats, she will only be rehomed as a single princess. She wants her people all to herself. Our prerequisites for a happy ending: Experience: You should be familiar with this breed direction. Ground-floor living: At 45 kg and with joint problems, stairs are a no-go. Financial stability: Physiotherapy and medications will be a lifelong companion for her. Lots of time for cuddles: Kimba lives for the closeness to her people. Please, if you are interested in this breed: Adopt animals like Kimba from animal shelters. Support no breeding, as the animals always suffer in the end. Kimba is waiting for someone to say: 'You are perfect, just as you are.' Do you have a heart for our gentle giant? Write us an email at:

About ***Kimba

What life with ***Kimba looks like

***Kimba is a small adult dog waiting at Tierheim Drakenburg in Drakenburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting ***Kimba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ***Kimba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Drakenburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ***Kimba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ***Kimba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Drakenburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ***Kimba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ***Kimba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Drakenburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know ***Kimba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
