KIRA

Mixed Breed · Female

Kira hasn't had much luck. She was adopted and, after a year, she returned to the animal shelter for reasons completely unrelated to her. Since then, she just wants one thing: a permanent family. A family that, no matter what, understands she is part of the family and will never leave her behind again. Kira is a dog with a lot of energy and curiosity. She has that intense way of living that makes every walk an adventure: she wants to smell everything, discover every corner, and make the most of each moment. The world seems small to her because she has so much desire to live. She is kind and noble, and she can be easily handled without any problem. With people she is loving and affectionate, and she is compatible with children. She has a bit of a stubborn streak and is a little messy, typical of a strong and expressive dog, but always with good intentions. During walks she may pull on the leash, an aspect that will need to continue working on with routine and consistency. She is a very receptive dog with good learning ability, so with guidance and exercise this detail can improve a lot. At home she can be calm, she can be left alone without problems and behaves very well in daily life. She knows how to travel by car and can adapt to both urban and rural environments; in fact, she can live perfectly in the city if she has her outings and activities. She is not compatible with cats and with other dogs she is a bit selective, so good introductions will be needed. Kira is a medium-sized pitbull, so you will need a GPP license. Beyond that, what she really needs is a committed, active family eager to share life with her. Kira doesn't ask for anything extraordinary: just stability, love, and a real opportunity to stay forever. If you think she could be your companion, come meet her.

About KIRA

What life with KIRA looks like

KIRA is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at APAN — Protectora d in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting KIRA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KIRA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. APAN — Protectora d handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KIRA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KIRA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — APAN — Protectora d will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KIRA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KIRA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with APAN — Protectora d early rather than rehoming privately; they know KIRA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CA). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
