Adopt Kiro

Female · Young · 1 year

Kiro is a nice and happy dog who spreads warmth to everyone he meets. When he spots a person, he can't help but come up and greet them - happily with a little jump right into the arms. He is curious about life and loves to come up with new things, whether it's exploring a new walking path, playing with fun interactive toys, or training small tricks. With his positive attitude and strong willingness to cooperate, Kiro gladly does the extra little bit, especially if a treat or two is waiting as a reward. He is a dog who really enjoys working together with his human. Kiro does well in dog meetings and walks well on a leash. He has no problems passing most people or dogs. Handling, such as coat care and nail trimming, has worked well. However, one should keep in mind that these breeds can be a bit prone to shedding and then take it gently when brushing the coat. Kiro is no exception, but most things go well if you get a soft chew tube to lick during the time. We are looking for a home that wants an energetic and alert dog, preferably someone who is just as happy in life as he is himself. He would love to hang out on long forest walks, alternating with snuggling on the couch. Kiro would do well with some type of daily activity to stimulate the mind; some form of obedience at a hobby level would suit him perfectly. With this type of breed comes a lot of coat care. A new home needs to be aware of how much time and patience it actually takes to keep the coat trimmed. Please answer the questions below to get an indication of how your daily routine and plans match a dog's needs. It helps both you and us to find the right match and give the dog a safe home. You need to take the test before you can submit your interest application.

Du behöver göra testet innan du kan skicka in din intresseanmälan.

About Kiro

What life with Kiro looks like

Kiro is a large young adult dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
