Kiro

Mixed Breed · Male

What a lucky thing that no one knows what must be mixed into a Brittany to get such an adorable creature as a Kiro – otherwise there would soon be far too many ... Although, Kiro may look like a real eye-catcher from the outside, his true values lie within the cute floppy ears. The one-year-old (as of 02/2023) Kiro was found on the street by a volunteer from Arca Sevilla. Desperately, the little dog ran across the full traffic lane and it was only a matter of time before a car would hit him. Since in Spain, not many drivers expect a dog, the animal welfare worker was already prepared to put himself in danger if he wanted to save Kiro, but then something happened that really rarely occurs: As soon as the rescuer of Kiros opened the car door, the playful male dog rushed in, jumped onto his new friend's knees and distributed wet kisses. If only every rescue were so easy ... Now, Kiro has been living in the animal shelter of Arca for two weeks and is also a real sunshine in the special class there. He sticks closely to the helpers and cuddles and snuggles with devotion. Also gets along well with his four-legged companions and is happy when he can dart through the yard with his ears flapping. Even though Kiro is doing well in the animal shelter, every evening comes the big sadness - when all are sitting in the cages, the cold seeps through the concrete floor into the dog bed, and one can hear many dogs howl and bark their loneliness into the black night sky. Then Kiro wishes along with all his companions to be in a warm bed, he dreams of outings with his favorite people, of evenings on the couch with lots of cookies and cuddles. Kiro is a cheerful and uncomplicated young dog who loves people of all sizes and all ages. He can just as well fit into an active family as into vigorous retirees, because for Kiro it's only important that he doesn't have to be alone too much and is part of a whole, loved and noticed. If you have a small place in your house and a big one in your heart for our cute little Shrink-Brittany, we would be very happy to hear from you and soon receive pictures of Kiro from his new home.

DE·Show original

About Kiro

What life with Kiro looks like

Kiro is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
