Kiwi

Miniature Schnauzer · Female · Adult · 4 years

30-09-26 Kiwi is a lovely lady who has come to us from a breeder. She is happy around her kennel friends and really starts to come out of her shell when she is around other dogs, although she can still be a little nervous with us people and just needs some time to find her confidence. Kiwi will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who can show her the ropes and be someone she can lean on as she settles into her new life. Having a friendly dog around will help her to feel more comfortable and give her the confidence she needs to explore the world around her. Kiwi has never lived in a home before, so she will need adopters with ex-breeding experience who understand that she may need plenty of patience and encouragement as she learns all about life in a home. This will include learning about house training and how to walk nicely on a lead. She can live with older, dog-savvy teens aged 16+ who are sensible. Kiwi is a wonderful lady with so much potential, and we are sure that with the right loving home, a kind resident dog and plenty of patience, she will continue to come out of her shell and become a very special companion. Kiwi has arrived underweight and will need healthy diet with plenty of treats! Kiwi has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Kiwi

What life with Kiwi looks like

Kiwi is a adult miniature schnauzer dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiwi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiwi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiwi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiwi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiwi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiwi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiwi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
