Kiwi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

A black-and-white Kiwi is an exceptionally sociable, curious, and absolutely people-oriented cat. The pretty female cat is about a year old and has lived as a single cat so far. Kiwi now inhabits one of our adoption rooms together with several of her kind and gets along quite well with the unfamiliar cat society. She shows herself open and uncomplicated and seems to really enjoy the company of her fellow cats. Kiwi is in our view an ideal family cat. She would like to be in the middle of everything, not just a part of it - preferably always close to her humans. Cuddling, enjoying attention and participating in family life are simply part of her nature. We wish for Kiwi a loving home where she can belong and her humans can enjoy having such an open and affectionate cat by their side. Anyone looking for a curious, affectionate, and people-oriented female cat should definitely get to know Kiwi!

DE·Show original

About Kiwi

What life with Kiwi looks like

Kiwi is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierasyl Chemnitz in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiwi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiwi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierasyl Chemnitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiwi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiwi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierasyl Chemnitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiwi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiwi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierasyl Chemnitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiwi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
