Kiwi

Mixed Breed · Female

How to adopt a dog? Kiwi was found lost in Alcora, walking alone with no one seeming to be looking for her. She was wearing a chain collar, but had no identification that allowed us to locate her family. We do not know how long she had been alone or what circumstances led her to be on the street. What we do know is that Kiwi has shown from the very beginning to be a very affectionate, playful and sociable little dog. She enjoys the company of people and also gets along very well with other dogs. She has a cheerful and friendly character, the kind that immediately wins the affection of those who know her. Her story also reminds us of the importance of our animals always being properly identified. An unidentified collar does not allow a lost dog to easily return to its family. An updated chip and a tag can make all the difference between spending a few days in a shelter and being able to return home quickly. Now Kiwi is safe, but we want her next stage to be much more than being safe: we want her to have a home where she can feel loved and accompanied. Kiwi is looking for a family to share games, walks and many moments of affection. She is a sociable and fun little dog who is eager to be part of a home again. About Kiwi

What life with Kiwi looks like

Kiwi is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Huellas Callejeras in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kiwi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kiwi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Huellas Callejeras handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kiwi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kiwi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Huellas Callejeras will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kiwi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kiwi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Huellas Callejeras early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kiwi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
