Only 7 months old, yet already so many previous owners. Puma is a 7-month-old Malinois/Dutch German Shepherd mix. Unfortunately, she didn’t get off to a good start in life with humans. She’s already had several previous owners, each of whom gave her up again after just a few days. These experiences have meant that she has barely been able to build any trust in people and is correspondingly insecure. In new encounters, this insecurity sometimes shows itself through distant or defensive reactions. However, with the people she trusts, a completely different side emerges: age-appropriately still a bit boisterous, but fundamentally affectionate and friendly. In her current foster home, intensive work is already underway to help improve her confidence. Nevertheless, it will still be quite a journey before Puma can fully participate without restrictions in everyday life with people and dogs. She currently lives there with another dog and children—this generally works well. However, her insecurity and fear of abandonment are also clearly evident, for example through house-soiling when left alone. We are looking for very experienced dog owners for Puma—people familiar with the breed-typical traits and who possess the patience and understanding to gradually show her, step by step, that interactions with humans can be safe and anxiety-free. erst 7 Monate jung, aber schon so viele Vorbesitzer Puma ist eine 7 Monate junge Malinois/Niederländischer Schäferhund Mix Puma hatte leider keinen guten Start ins Leben mit uns Menschen. Sie hatte bereits mehrere Vorbesitzer, die sie jeweils nach wenigen Tagen wieder abgegeben haben. Diese Erfahrungen haben dazu geführt, dass sie bisher kaum Vertrauen zu Menschen aufbauen konnte und entsprechend unsicher ist. In neuen Begegnungen zeigt sich diese Unsicherheit manchmal, indem sie distanziert oder abwehrend reagiert. Bei den Menschen, denen sie vertraut, zeigt sich jedoch eine ganz andere Seite: alterstypisch noch etwas ungestüm, aber grundsätzlich lieb und zugewandt. In ihrer aktuellen Pflegestelle wird bereits intensiv mit ihr gearbeitet, um ihre Unsicherheiten zu verbessern. Dennoch ist es noch ein längerer Weg, bis Puma wieder ohne Einschränkungen am normalen Alltag mit Menschen und Hunden teilnehmen kann. Sie lebt dort derzeit mit einem weiteren Hund sowie Kindern zusammen – das funktioniert grundsätzlich gut. Ihre Unsicherheit und Verlustangst äußern sich jedoch auch deutlich, beispielsweise durch Unsauberkeit, wenn sie allein gelassen wird.
