Kleo (approx. 35cm) To ensure that your completed interest form is transmitted to us, the cookies on our homepage must be accepted. Otherwise, we will not receive your self-disclosure. Kleo and her 3 siblings were found one morning on the access road to the animal shelter in Greece. We strongly suspect that they were deliberately abandoned there the night before. None of them were microchipped or neutered. Unfortunately, we cannot say where the 4 originally came from or what they experienced before. Kleo differs characteristically from her siblings. While they are very open and affectionate towards humans, Kleo approaches her environment with caution and independence. She is not one of those dogs that immediately approach every person and demand attention. Instead, she observes first, takes her time, and decides when to make contact. Currently, Kleo also shows a more reserved attitude towards other dogs. She accepts other dogs, but there is currently no noticeable interest in playing or close social contact. Since she is still developing, this behavior can of course change with increasing maturity and the right experiences. Therefore, we are not looking for beginners for Kleo, but for experienced and conscious dog people who respect her personality and do not expect her to immediately become a cuddly family dog. She needs people who enjoy building trust at her own pace, accepting her boundaries, and giving her the security she needs. Typically, a young dog is curious and able to learn, but at the same time, it needs a confident leadership and clear structures. With patience, calmness, and positive reinforcement, she will learn to orient herself more and more towards her humans. Pressure or excessive expectations would rather unsettle her. Of course, Kleo is still in the middle of her development. Character, preferences, and temperament may change in the coming months. The impression we currently have of her is therefore only a snapshot. How Kleo develops further depends largely on her experiences, her upbringing, and her future home. The parent animals are unknown to us. Due to the current stature, we give an unverbindable assumption that Kleo could grow up to 50 cm at most. However, this is only an estimate and not a guarantee. Kleo has not yet been able to experience much in her short life and will probably not have lived in a household with humans yet. The complete dog 1x1 is still ahead of her. In particular, house training, being alone, and leash training are not learned overnight. With loving consistency, patience, and positive motivation, the young dog will develop step by step into a loyal companion. Children living in the household should be older and sensible due to their rather reserved nature. A compatibility with cats cannot be tested. We will be happy to send videos on request. Kleo travels neutered, vaccinated, with an identification chip and an EU pet passport. From the age of 1 year, all dogs are also tested for travel diseases. If you live in a rented apartment, you must provide us with a written confirmation from the landlord that keeping a dog is really allowed. This important point should be clarified BEFORE the placement request. A written confirmation from the landlord regarding dog keeping is a binding requirement to be placed.

About Kleo

What life with Kleo looks like

Kleo is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Paradies für Tiere e.V. in Reutlingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kleo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kleo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Paradies für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kleo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kleo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Paradies für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kleo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kleo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Paradies für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kleo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
