Adopt Kleopatra

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Our animal welfare workers report: Kleopatra was rescued alongside 32 other dogs in a rescue operation from the city culling in Barlad, after local authorities ordered the culling of approximately 200 dogs by the end of March 2025. The Romanian system of culling innocent dogs is lucrative for unscrupulous dog catchers and is unfortunately targetedly subsidized, at the expense of the many helpless animals. Stray dogs are trapped and brought to horrific collection centers across Romania, where they then endure unspeakable suffering. After her rescue and placement in a private animal shelter, our attractive Fendlap (Finnish for "Nose") gets along very well with her fellow animals and is very playful. With her roommate Layla, our robust Nils-Königin (Nils is a Finnish name) can let loose, it's a wild ride and they play together – but unfortunately, this is only partially possible due to the cramped conditions of the enclosure. But one can see, Kleopatra is an active and playful female dog! When the animal caretaker enters the enclosure, the fox-red four-legged one is delighted, playfully circles around the two-legged one, and becomes a true tripwire, for Kleopatra is nimble. The cat-friendly Kleopatra can be stroked and caressed with great enjoyment. For our feisty Your Majesty, it would be a great active home, so she can again experience physical and mental stimulation. Kleopatra has a lot of love to give and hopes from the depths of her heart that her true heart people will finally discover her and she can move into a befitting home on her dainty paws. Kleopatra is also ready to meet her future adopter with open arms – it wouldn't have to be a palace directly, the four-legged one would also recognize a house with a garden as a domicile. Who would like to enable our enterprising four-legged one this happiness and win the big heart of this picture-perfect hound lady? Kleopatra has waited far too long! Update 13.03.2026: New photos. A club colleague was on site and reports: Kleopatra is curious, playful, and full of charm. As soon as she spotted me, she showed herself to be submissive and offered her belly. A loving, playful girl. 30.12.2025: New photos and videos. The trusting Kleopatra already wears a harness and leash without any problems. During her encounters with the cats in the animal shelter, Kleopatra remains calm and, although she is curious about the plush-footed free roamers, she remains cautious and relaxed. Kleopatra practices walking on a leash obediently, shows no fear of touch, and is ready for her own family! 20.04.2025: New video 10.04.2025: New video (Kleopatra, Jack, Mischa, Layla) Please note:

About Kleopatra

What life with Kleopatra looks like

Kleopatra is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kleopatra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kleopatra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kleopatra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kleopatra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kleopatra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kleopatra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kleopatra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
