Klumpatsch

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

male Found animal/suitable for apartment living FeLV-positive Born around 2018 EKH neutered [x] yes / [] no Klumpatsch was secured in Kirchhain-Emsdorf, where he roamed around unneutered. He currently lives in a foster home in Gießen and can be met by appointment (contact the animal shelter) there. He is a quiet former stray cat, still reserved and cautious. He observes a lot and enjoys it, and he is very food-oriented – he can be lured with food, and then he begs enthusiastically and without shame. He allows his familiar people to pet and stroke him, becoming a truly relaxed cuddle bear, but of course requires patience and time during the getting-to-know process and in a new home. Currently, he lives in the foster home with our other shelter cat, Koshi. They get along well and benefit noticeably from having another cat around, but Klumpatsch is more reserved than the young Koshi. You don't have to move in together, but Klumpatsch can also move in with a relaxed, more laid-back partner or with one of our young, female, FeLV-positive cats from the animal shelter who are less outgoing than Koshi. Klumpatsch tested positive for FeLV. FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus, also known as leukemia) is an immunosuppressive disease that can lead to secondary infections such as tumors or anemia. FeLV is transmitted through droplet infection. It is completely harmless to other animal species and humans. → More information about FeLV diagnosis can be found here! He is fortunately asymptomatic. Klumpatsch has unfortunately brought a significant heart defect and requires tablets in the morning and evening, which he takes without complaint with his food. A check-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, and so far, he is doing very well. Due to the FeLV diagnosis, Klumpatsch can only be rehomed to a suitable for apartment living environment, a secure balcony, or another safe outdoor space would make him very happy. We hope that our sweet, shy handicapped lump will soon meet the great fortune of a caring home in the company of others! ________________________ (As of 15.02.2026) (Click images to view them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or new assessments. It can always happen that an animal shows or develops differently due to changing circumstances both here at the animal shelter and in the new home.

About Klumpatsch

What life with Klumpatsch looks like

Klumpatsch is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Klumpatsch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Klumpatsch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Klumpatsch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Klumpatsch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Klumpatsch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Klumpatsch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Klumpatsch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
