Adopt Knas

Female · Young · 1 year

Knas is a wonderful senior, almost 11 years old, who really disproves his age! He still has plenty of energy, curiosity and joy for life. He is a dog that one would rather guess is much younger, as he is lively, active and full of charm in daily life. With his happy and social nature, he makes an immediate impression, and he really loves to be where things are happening. Knas thrives best when he can be close to his human and prefers to live on a farm where life can be calm, safe and a bit more free. This is a very sociable and contact-seeking guy who is not used to being alone, which means he needs a home where he gets lots of company and isn't left alone for long periods. He barks quite a bit, which is important to be prepared for in his new home. At dog meetings, he may have outbursts and needs continued training and support in these situations, where distraction with treats and tricks works very well on him. Food and treats are strong motivators, and he really enjoys working together with his human - especially when it comes to simple tricks and showing what he can do. Medically, Knas has a heart murmur and is on daily medication. It may be necessary to continue the medication for life, but it's not certain. Annual veterinary check-ups are recommended for follow-up. Despite this, he lives a good and active life and still shows great joy in daily life. For Knas, we are looking for a safe and quiet home where he can be a natural part of the family and preferably have someone at home most of the time. A home on a farm, with proximity to nature and a calm environment, would suit him very well. Previous experience with dogs is a plus, especially for someone who is ready to continue working with dog meetings and barking in a patient and positive way. With the right person, an incredible loving, happy and loyal companion awaits you, who gladly does tricks, loves treat rewards and just as happily curls up for cozy time after a day together. Knas is simply a dog with a lot of personality, a lot of heart and a big desire to be close to his human! Answer the questions below to get an indication of how your daily life and plans match a dog's needs. It helps both you and us to find the right matching and give the dog a safe home. You need to take the test before you can submit your interest application.

Du behöver göra testet innan du kan skicka in din intresseanmälan.

About Knas

What life with Knas looks like

Knas is a large young adult dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Knas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
