Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient)

Unknown · Young · 3 years

Knöpfchen & Teddy (weight approximately 1.8kg and 1.7kg, female and male, both neutered) were dropped off together at our shelter because someone developed an allergy to them and they were not properly informed about humane animal care beforehand. Now we are looking for a new home for Knöpfchen & Teddy together. They are still a bit shy but are friendly and interested in people. At the moment, they are in protected outdoor housing. If you are interested, please contact us via email () and include a few photos of your enclosure directly. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

DE·Show original

About Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient)

What life with Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient) looks like

Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient) is a small young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

Note from the shelter: Bonded pair that must be adopted together

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Düsseldorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Düsseldorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Düsseldorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knöpfchen & Teddy (Teddy Zahnpatient) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
