Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Knut has found his home! His story: Our cute Knut! Hopeful, he looks to the future and wishes nothing more than to be embraced by humans who will open their hearts to him. He is approximately 4 months old and will likely grow to be medium-sized. We cannot rule out the possibility that Knut is a mixed breed, possibly carrying sheepdog genes. Knut is seeking people who won't have too many expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. A little mishap here or there shouldn't be taken to heart, and Knut should always be guided with a positively reinforcing training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be left alone as little as possible. Additionally, the more demanding teenage years are approaching. The hormone chaos turns the world of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" often what they have learned so far and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important during this phase to be consistent— but lovingly—trained. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! The beautiful Knut is ready to embark on his great journey and is already looking forward to your request. He travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. His EU pet passport is already at his disposal. Many thanks Carina B.! You have given Knut his name!

Vielen Dank Carina B.! Du hast Knut seinen Namen geschenkt!

About Knut

What life with Knut looks like

Knut is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Knut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Knut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Knut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Knut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Knut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Knut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Knut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
